Oregon Wine Country
Within an hour’s drive from Portland International Airport, you will find incredible inns and B&Bs, some of the finest dining in Oregon (a state known for its cuisine!) and more than 150 wineries ready to host you for unforgettable, personalized wine tasting experiences.
The Allison Inn & Spa is Oregon wine country’s premier destination resort, featuring 85 luxurious guestrooms, JORY Restaurant showcasing Oregon wine country cuisine, a full-service spa, fitness studio, swimming pool, 5 acres of vineyards, concierge services, and meeting and catering venues.
In addition, there are also several well-appointed B&Bs, national chains in Newberg and McMinnville, and an array of possibilities in Portland (40 minutes from wine country).
There are a number of sophisticated restaurants in the northern Willamette Valley that will satisfy even the most discriminating palate. Please call us; we would love to refer you to our favorites, such as The Painted Lady. Alternatively, you can visit the Willamette Valley Wineries Association website for a list that includes many of the top selections.
According to a recent Wine Spectator cover story, “Pinot noir has found an American home in Oregon.” But in addition to its signature Pinot noirs, you will also find highly rated Pinot gris, Pinot blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, and other elegant cool-climate varieties. Most wineries are small, family-owned operations with opportunities to taste in intimate settings directly with the owner and/or winemaker. There are three other wineries on our street (Calkins Lane), and we are surrounded by dozens of others within a 10 mile radius.
You will find the majority of wineries located within 30 – 50 miles of Portland International Airport (PDX), which services twelve U.S. airlines and Air Canada. There are also nonstop flights available from PDX to Tokyo, Amsterdam and Vancouver, BC.
There are three flights per day between Portland and Coos Bay (OTH), the closest airport to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in SW Oregon.
Additionally, Amtrak offers train services within the Northwest and British Columbia, connecting as far away as Los Angeles or Chicago. Union Station is conveniently located in NW Portland.
